Questions about Composite Front Doors

Do composite doors fade?

With an expected lifespan of around 30 years, composite front doors are going to be a key feature of your home's exterior decor. While boasting increased energy efficiency and security, external composite front doors are a fantastic addition to your home.

Nobody wants a door they’ve invested in to dull and fade in adverse weather conditions. The Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) of which composite doors are made is extremely resistant to the elements. Because of the GRP, your composite door will remain looking as fresh as the day you bought it. This doesn’t mean to say that it won’t need a wash in hot soapy water every now and then to keep it looking tip-top.

Do composite doors warp?

One downside to uPVC and timber doors is their ability to warp over time. Whether they expand in the heat or, as time goes on, become less watertight, this may cause them to “stick” when you try to open them as they no longer sit squarely in their frame.

External composite doors can brave any adverse weather. GRP is extremely watertight and, due to its durability, is less prone to warping and damage over the years. The material is also resistant to expanding and shrinking, and so your composite door will operate efficiently all year round.
